Free Youth Graffiti Workshop: Stencil and Spray

Free graf­fiti art work­shop for Youth age 8–18 with Guest Artists Max “GEMS” Gonzalez and Jerome “CHU” Charles May 14th 4:00–6:00pm Loca­tion: Carnegie Library of Pitts­burgh Hazel­wood GEMS and CHU will lead partic­i­pants through the process of creating hand-cut sten­cils. We will then spray those sten­cils onto a large board lined with mini canvases that partic­i­pants can take home! We will also paint a large canvas that will have the name of the neigh­bor­hood that will be displayed at the library! Partic­i­pants will learn how to create big block letters, spray­paint tech­niques in outlining, fills and sten­ciling. This program is hosted by the Hemi­spheric Conver­sa­tions Urban Art Project. HCUAP is working in part­ner­ship with Rivers of Steel Arts and The Univer­sity of Pitts­burgh, to galva­nize the rela­tion­ship between post-indus­trial envi­ron­ments and urban arts.
